I stop by here on my way home from work as I am tired and just wanted some comfort food. I ordered a quart of matzo... ball soup. I get home and open it up and see I am missing half a cup of soup. This was the first place we stopped on our vacation to the villages. The food was decent but the experience as a whole... was bad. The waitress never checked in on our table. Not even once. We had to ask for refills throughout our entire meal.When our food arrived, we took our first bites and was swarmed by the hostess to fill out a survey on the eatery. We knew we were not eating at a 5 star restaurant but this place really lacked professionalism.We also had issues with the food. They forgot the cheese on our sandwiches and forgot other toppings. We were charged extra for the cheese and was told it was not able to be taken off of the bill because the system was “down”. We were reimbursed with cookies which were great! The staff was very apologetic with the check issue but overall just not a good experience. Hope this helps!read more

I am not normally one to... complain but we were 100% forgotten, food was delivered after 20 mins and was cold, never once were we asked for refills and had to beg to get our check.It’s not as if the tables around us were in the same scenario all were well taken care of and one table next to us seemed to get bonus treatment ( guess that is what happens if you are a regular).. never again and IWarning all my friends who travel through for horse shows, etc.. avoid it’s a waste of your time!read more

Ordered a Thanksgiving meal and selected 8:15PM pick up time (times given were up to 8:45pm) the evening before the... holiday when I got off of work. When I got to the restaurant, (it was approximately 8:05pm), the doors were locked and motioned to a waiter inside to open the door. He told me, "we are closed". I banged on the door and said that I was there to pick up an order. They then did open the door and fortunately for me, they found the order. Manager just mumbled, sorry! If 8:05 is too late for pickup, they need to change their available hours on the website or call me with my phone number that was provided on the order to schedule an earlier time for pick up. Understand that everyone is tired by the end of the day, but being the meal was paid in advance, would of been quite a disaster if I had not been able to pick up my meal for the holiday.read more

This is the second time we visit this restaurant in the last 3 months as the previous time was not up to par. Servers... walk around like they’re mad at the world and with an attitude that leaves much to be desired. Almost as if they’re owed more than what they put in (entitlement) and the area where we sat really stunk. Regrettably, we won’t be going back any time soon or ever. First, been a Fan of Toojays for decades but this location disappoints.My wife is allergic to peppers/pepper. ... Waitress said “I’m not starting the order over I’ll just tell the back” so she would not have to spend 30 seconds keying in her order.Her order came out with 2 kinds of peppers plus black pepper on it. Waitress brought out replacement sides with black pepper on them again and tried to convince us it wasn’t pepper. Was then told there’s nothing else the kitchen can make to replace her sides covered in pepper. No offer to remove the items from the bill.Service attitude was very abrupt.Usually I only post positive reviews because I feel people speak up too frequently when there are problems and not enough when things are great. But this was a negative experience. Our first TooJays visit since the pandemic started and of this is the new norm I can’t see us going back. Allergies are no casual matter.read more

This was our first time here. Other reviews were pretty much on par with our experience. The hostess was not rude, just... impersonal and didn't seem to want to be helpful. The men's room definitely needs attention! The review from a month ago mentioned this, but it obviously hasn't been addressed. I just hope the cleanliness of the restroom isn't an indication of the cleanliness of the kitchen. The waitress, Dianna, was nice. The food was good, but nothing special. Both my parents and grandparents live in The Villages. They both rave about Too Jays and dined there most every... Saturday per my grandparents request. They were thrilled when we traveled in from N.C for a visit and of course our first stop to dine together was Too Jay’s. We sat outside on the patio and it was sunny but windy! Per my 92 year old grandfathers request he wanted to move to a different table away from the wind, in front of the entrance so there could be a barrier. Forget about the napkins and menus blowing, this was my grandfather’s only request for a comfortable dining experience. The manager/hostess told us “No, we could not move because that’s the pick up area.” Let me be clear; there were 6 of us so our dining time was about an hour and a half and literally there was not one pick up and only one other table was seated on the patio. We moved anyway without permission and when I told the manger that’s what we were doing she just threw up her hands and said “I guess.” The whole interaction seemed like and overwhelmed employee & some random form of a power struggle. It was unprofessional, handled poorly, and 100% NOT hospitable. I do not recall our server even smiling once except for when she brought us the check ???? I’m incredibly disappointed in our experience and so badly wanted to love this place as much as my family did. Sadly, after that a group of people who have been coming most every Saturday for the past year or so decided to not return again from such an embarrassing and gross situation.read more

My husband and I ate lunch at Too Jays today. I ordered the Western Skillet which was very good but I got full after... eating half so the waitress brought me a container to take the rest home. I warmed up the leftovers tonight and after taking a few bites I could feel what felt like a long hair in my mouth. I spit out the food in my mouth and there was a long human hair about 6 to 8 inches long in my food. A light brown hair. Needless to say I did not eat anymore and it really turned me against ever going back to TooJays again. We had a friend of ours came with us. We where always telling him had great it was. That was not the case this time.We were disappointed... My husband brisket was overcooked and tough....He was the only one that received potato pancakes.. Our guest and I received mashed potatoes and they tasted like they came from a box.I was the first reservation on ur list, last time we came up , I asked for times and they said 5p or 7pmWhen we came tonight the restaurant was busy with patronss. The waitress said it wad 5p and 7p. I had written in my planner the exact time I told was 530p.For dessert we look forward to the macaroons. We got plain macaroons, they were cold and all must frozen. We usually get a few chocolate macaroonsDid have any tonight?Nevertheless, I got some takeout items, matzo ball soup, knishes. We had a very good meal here, everything was tasty and fresh. Our server took good care of us and all of the staff was... pleasant. There was no wait to be seated at any time we were there, from 6-8 pm on a Saturday night. The food did take awhile to come we did noticed. I had some type of trio- a good scoop of chicken salad, egg salad, and shrimp salad, on a bed of lettuce, cucumbers, and other veggies, and I enjoyed it. 2 of our friends had pastrami on rye, which I tasted and is quite good.
